Three posts worth reading from the Mirror of Justice law blog

  • My former law professor and colleague Fr. Robert J. Araujo, SJ has posted a very powerful reflection on the intolerance in education that masks itself in the push for diversity and inclusion in the Anglosphere. A great overview of the double-speak and Orwellian discourse that is prevalent amidst the culture warriors of the Left.
  • Rick Garnett replies to several arguments in favor of the HHS mandate against Catholic institutions, forcing them to provide insurance coverage for artificial contraception and abortifacients.  As Garnett points out, the HHS mandate does not further the common good and is not appreciative enough of religious liberty. Read it all, and links he provides.
  • Marc DeGirolami has a brief review posted of a new law article posted on SSRN by law professor John Stinneford: Punishment Without Culpability. As DeGirolami notes, the Supreme Court has come close to enunciating a constitutional requirement for culpability in criminal punishment, but hasn't quite made the necessary step in formulating such a constitutional doctrine.
